Abstract

The article examines the evolution of judicial management in federal courts since Judith Resnik's seminal work, *Managerial Judges*, highlighting both advancements and persistent challenges. While increased transparency and the expanded role of magistrate judges have mitigated some concerns, issues like discovery disputes and the impact of the Prison Litigation Reform Act (PLRA) continue to shape judicial practice. The article critiques the disuniformity introduced by judges' individual standing orders, which, despite offering flexibility, raise concerns about procedural fairness, transparency, and consistency in federal procedure.
