Abstract

The article explores the intersection of law and literature, arguing that literature serves as a critical and subversive force that challenges legal formalism and reveals the imperfections and limitations of legal thought. By analyzing various literary works and their engagement with legal themes, the article posits that literature "estreates" the law—meaning it disrupts, subverts, or reimagines legal narratives. This process highlights the disjunction between legal records and lived realities, emphasizing the political and transformative potential of literature in rethinking law.
