Description
We honor Barbara Kolsun ’82, Director of the FAME Center, who dares to reimagine how lawyers serve and shape the creative industries. A leading fashion law attorney and professor of practice, Kolsun helped define the field, co-editing the seminal text The Business and Law of Fashion and Retail and building legal departments as the first General Counsel for iconic brands including Kate Spade, Stuart Weitzman, and Seven for All Mankind.
After graduating from Cardozo, she became the first alumna to clerk for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit as a pro se law clerk—an early milestone in a trailblazing career. Through her leadership of Cardozo’s FAME Center, Kolsun continues to prepare the next generation of lawyers to navigate the intersection of law, business, and creativity, while advancing the protection of intellectual property for artists and designers worldwide.
