Honorable Judge Asim Rehman currently serves as the Commissioner of the New York Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings. Appointed in 2022, Rehman holds the distinction of being the first Muslim and South Asian American to lead this vital office. His impressive career spans both public and private sectors, with extensive experience in complex litigation, government investigations, and criminal defense.
Judge Asim Rehman began his service to the city in 2014, when he was appointed General Counsel for the Office of the Inspector General for the NYPD. Since then, he has taken on various key roles, including leading the city’s Law Department and serving as Corporation Counsel, guiding New York through significant challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic.
In recognition of his leadership and commitment to diversity in the legal profession, Judge Rehman has received numerous prestigious awards, including the South Asian Bar Association of New York (SABANY) Corporate Leadership Award, the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) “Best Lawyers Under 40” Award, and the New York City Bar Association’s Diversity & Inclusion Champion Award. His contributions continue to shape the city’s legal landscape, setting new standards of excellence and inclusion.
