The New York State Assembly is currently considering Assembly Bill A08155, which would expand New York's right of publicity law by making it a property right that can be passed onto a namesake's heirs. Critics of the Bill say it will chill speech by limiting the use of a namesake's name or likeness even after their death. We will be inviting practitioners and academics to the event to discuss the pros, cons, and potential alterations to the Bill.
