Bitcoin NFTs, Ordinals, and Why Unisat Wallet Might Be Your Best On-Ramp
Abstract
Ordinals and BRC-20 tokens represent a new wave of experimentation on Bitcoin, enabling on-chain media, collectibles, and token-like assets through inscriptions on individual satoshis. Unlike smart-contract-based NFTs, these artifacts are fully embedded in Bitcoin transactions, emphasizing permanence and censorship resistance while introducing new tradeoffs around fees, privacy, and usability. This work explores the technical foundations and cultural implications of Ordinals and BRC-20s, highlighting the importance of wallet tooling such as Unisat in making Bitcoin-native digital assets accessible despite an evolving and fragmented ecosystem.
